The Point Cook Homestead and Cafe is the proud winner of the Tourism Category of the 2008 Wyndham Business Awards.

Researching, cataloguing, displaying and maintaining the heritage of the Point Cook Homestead is a never ending task!

We are delighted to be taking part in the HeritageCare program, which is run by Conservation Volunteers Australia, assisted by Parks Victoria and funded by Heritage Victoria.  We currently have two teams of volunteers who come one day each week.

Our first HeritageCare project (which finished in February 08) - involved Peter, Michael, Errol and Lyle - collected old farm machinery which was scattered across the property and treated it with fish oil to stop rust.  A display base was created near the cafe, and all pieces placed there for visitors enjoyment.  A catalogue of items - everything that belongs to the property - was established, and will soon be put onto a database.  The guys have also finished oiling the Rabbiters Hut and painting the cellar gate.

Our second project involves recording the oral histories of anyone who has lived or worked at the property.  If you, or someone you know, had a connection with the Homestead, please get them to contact us!  No matter how small the detail, it all helps to piece together its history.

See our volunteers in action as media stars in the Point Cook Banner and Star newspapers!
